With the outbreak of hostilities in 1861, Jewish women joined their respective sides and offered their services as nurses, spies, and smugglers, and formed soldiers’ aid societies. Professor Tish Richard returns to share the experiences of Jewish women during the war as they suffered privations and endured separation from their husbands, brothers, and fathers who enlisted.
