Three days a week in over 900 papers across the country, Erma Bombeck’s column At Wit’s End captured the ups and downs of a new American phenomenon, the suburban housewife. Figuring you had to be able to laugh at life to get through it, she brought
to American awareness the struggles of women whose lives otherwise felt invisible and taken for granted. She let women across America know: You are not alone. In fact, we number in the millions. I, too, am an American housewife, and I will laugh by your side. Find out how Erma got started as a humorist. Chuckle along as she pokes fun at kids, husbands, household appliances, and especially herself. Program includes a monologue in-character, a Q&A “with Erma,” and a Q&A with the scholar/presenter, Susan Marie Frontczak. Schmoozing and refreshments included.
