Yom Ha Zikaron is the memorial day for the fallen soldiers of the Wars of Israel and victims of actions of terrorism. Enacted into law in Israel in1963, it is Israel’s official remembrance day. While Yom Ha Zikaron has been traditionally dedicated to fallen soldiers, commemoration has extended to civilian victims of terrorism throughout the years.
The Israel American Council (IAC) has created a moving and meaningful event using songs and personal stories to show gratitude, respect, and to celebrate the lives of those lost. Traditions of ceremonies and public sing-alongs are a common practice in Israel on Yom Ha Zikaron, stretching back to the early 20th century with the first waves of Jewish immigrants, and will take place at this celebration.
