Event Details

Yom HaZikaron immediately precedes Israel’s Independence Day, Yom Haatzmaut. During Yom HaZikaron, Israelis honor and pay tribute to fallen soldiers and victims of terrorism. A signature part of this day is a two-minute standstill of all activities in Israel as sirens blare and people pause their daily life to pay their respects, followed by a second siren later in the day before people begin prayer ceremonies. Originally enacted into law in 1963, Yom HaZikaron is now an integral part of Israeli culture and is observed around the world.

Join us on Monday, April 24, at Hebrew Educational Alliance as we honor those who have laid down their lives for the Jewish State and remember those we have lost to acts of terrorism. This year we will hear from Elisa Mindlin, who lost her brother, Michael Levin, in the 2006 2nd Lebanon War. More info on Elisa and Michael’s story here.

If you have a friend or family member who is a fallen Israeli soldier or victim of terror, and would like to have them recognized in our memorial, please email Itai Divinsky at idivinsky@jewishcolorado.org

Yom HaZikaron is co-sponsored and hosted by Hebrew Educational Alliance (HEA).
