Mussar offers a framework and a toolkit for translating the wisdom of kabbalah (specifically the sefirot of the Tree of Life) into a personalized, ongoing spiritual discipline – harnessing the midot in service of others. In this series of nine classes, Rabbi Jamie Arnold will facilitate this transformative group using two primary sources: 1) An introduction to mussar by Alan Morinis called “Everyday Holiness: The Jewish Spiritual Path of Mussar;” 2) a new book by Rabbi Toba Spitzer that explores metaphors for the Divine from nature through a mussar lens called “God is Here: Reimagining the Divine.” The qualities we will focus on in order to grow our capacity for sacred service will be silence (sound), compassion and trust (rock).
Classes are offered in-person and virtually through Zoom:
- Wednesdays 10:30 – 11:45am
- Class meets: Sept 20, 27, Oct 4, 11, 18, Nov 15, 29, Dec 6, and 13
- No class: Oct 25, Nov 1, 8, 22
