Event Details
When a German biologist visiting Israel and an Israeli bar owner fall in love and plan to marry, sparks fly as their families struggle to plan an interfaith lesbian wedding. The course of true love never runs smooth, but here Middle East politics and the shadow of the Holocaust make for an especially prickly, and amusing, affair. This lively, spirited romantic comedy is deftly layered with contemporary concerns, including cross-cultural differences and intersectionality. Shirel Peleg, a Venezuela-born, Israeli-raised, German-based director, knows her subject well, and brings a light touch and an open heart to the sharp-witted screwball comedy, a star-crossed-lovers story with surprising depth.
