Boulder JCC: Messinger Gallery Opening - CarolAnn Watcher

We are thrilled to welcome you to the Messinger Gallery for the opening of a new exhibition by CarolAnn Wachter

CarolAnn Wachter is a fine artist and fashion designer based in Boulder, Colorado. With a background as an observational oil painter and fashion designer, CarolAnn is now exploring those nuances of depth, light, form, space, and color in a new way: Richly hued abstract collages.

It all starts with color. CarolAnn coats large swaths of paper with colors made from acrylic ink and gouache. Then, she starts cutting. From there, it’s a process of adding and subtracting, disassembling and reassembling, and sometimes, simply stepping away.

She studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has drawn from her painting and sculpture background to create her own line of women’s clothing. With a focus on fine fabrics, craftsmanship, and classic forms, CarolAnn has built a reputation as both an accomplished painter and a designer of quality wearable yet elegant silhouettes.
