A note from Rabbi Greg:
You know those long lists of sins that are part of the High Holiday services? I’ll be honest, they’re one of my favorite parts. Long before I went to rabbinical school, before I ever heard of Mussar, when I rarely did anything Jewishly except go to services on the High Holidays, those lists were a helpful way to evaluate my life.
Yep, I did that one. No, not that one. Never heard of that one.
And year after year, certain things kept coming up. For example, when I was an active workaholic, zeal for bad causes always made me think I was putting too much zeal, too much effort, into my work.
I would resolve to change something, only to have that same issue appear next year.
Does this ever happen to you?
When I started mindfully creating spiritual action plans, I experienced real change.
There’s no magic bullet that can transform us overnight. But when I started creating a spiritual action plan, I learned how to mindfully address and heal parts of my soul that were causing me the same issues year after year. Together as a community, we can look within and help each other move forward.
