JEWISHcolorado’s Israel & Overseas Center partnered with the Kibbutzim Choir and the Forum of Families of Hostages to present a powerful performance, both a call for the safe return of the hostages and a tribute to those lost.
The choir, composed of graduates who reunited after twenty years, includes members from kibbutzim deeply affected by recent tragedies, making the evening especially moving. They first reunited at the beginning of the war to sing for Adi Shoham, a former member who was taken hostage and later freed. This time, they reunited again for a bigger concert, to sing for the return of Adi’s husband, Tal Shoham, that remained in captivity. Tal Shoham, 40, was kidnapped from Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7 while visiting Adi’s family for the Simchat Torah holiday. He, along with his wife, their two young children, and other relatives, was taken by Hamas. Now, as he is set to return this Saturday, the choir’s voices continue to echo the urgent plea for his freedom and for the release of all those still held captive.
Tala Zilberman, a choir member who organized the concert and a former resident of Nir Oz, shared: “We are all anxious and excited with Adi and Tal’s family for his expected return on Shabbat. We cannot wait to see him hugging his children and in the arms of Adi and his loved ones. We know that this is just the start of a very long road to recovery – they will need our support now, more than ever! We will keep singing and calling for ALL the hostages to come home and will not stop till they are all back!”
Somewhere There || Yesh Ei Sham || יש אי שם
“Somewhere there
Someone is thinking about you
Someone wants you terribly
Somewhere there
Somewhere there
Someone is dreaming about you
Someone loves you so much
Somewhere there
So don’t cry tonight
Put your head here
A falling star lights your night
Asking where
And what will you ask from above
If for me,
Then here I’m yours for a long time
Singing you a song
A sad sentimental song
A song that doesn’t leave you alone
Singing you a song
The dawn is already waiting
From across the corner
