JEWISHcolorado announced today it has raised and allocated nearly $210,000 with support from more than 850 donors in the wake of the horrific firebomb attack in Boulder on June 1, 2025, that killed one person and injured 14 others.
Within hours after the attack, JEWISHcolorado launched an emergency drive to help the community address immediate safety and security needs, as well as to fund mental health and trauma assistance and victims’ needs that were not covered by other funds or foundations.
Locally and nationally, donors responded to help provide support. The following organizations applied for and received grants: Congregation Bonai Shalom, the Adventure Rabbi, Jewish Family Service-Boulder, Chabad at CU Boulder, the Boulder JCC, Har Hashem synagogue, Run for Their Lives-Boulder, Chabad of Longmont, Chabad of Boulder, and CU Boulder Hillel.
“JEWISHcolorado is a trusted and critical partner to which the community turns during times of need and crisis. We are grateful to have had the support of the entire team at JEWISHcolorado during this heartbreaking and challenging episode,” said Boulder JCC Executive Director Jonathan Lev.
“The attack on the Run for Their Lives Walk in Boulder on June 1, 2025, forced our community to confront, once again, the growing risks of being visibly Jewish in public spaces, and we will continue our vigilance and swift action in the face of any threats,” said Renée Rockford, JEWISHcolorado President and CEO.
In addition to the emergency fundraising, JEWISHcolorado’s Jewish Community Relations Council and its Safety and Security Initiative responded with a variety of support services, working with local and national law enforcement, media outlets, and lawmakers, including virtual and in-person town halls with Colorado Senator Michael Bennet and Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser. Less than 48 hours after the attack, JEWISHcolorado’s Secure Community Network Regional Security Advisors provided a national webinar to over 700 Jewish community security and law enforcement representatives from across the US regarding details of the attack and initial lessons learned to assist in security planning around the US.
