The holiday of Purim celebrates the saving of the Jews from a threatened massacre in ancient Persia. The holiday is traditionally celebrated with wild abandon — costumes, drinking, feasting, revelry — and by reading the megillah and giving gifts to friends and the poor.
Families can celebrate with the Purim Spiel (spiel is Yiddish for “play” and every year, Jewish people across the globe retell this story in a variety of ways, from puppet shows to elaborate productions) designed by Caroline Saliman and Music Leah Boonin with a special troupe of actors. Followed by a costume parade and a 45 minute magic show by Braden Carlisle. Hamantaschen will be available for sale from Community Table Kitchen including chocolate, apricot, plum, poppyseed. Cafe at the J will be open for coffee and food sales.
