Kavod on the Road – Beat the Drum for Justice: Historical Fiction About Racial Injustice in America

Join local author Judge Christopher Cross (ret.) for a discussion about his recently released book, Beat the Drum for Justice, that exposes racial laws, rulings, and reality in America as it traces the fictional life of Gabriel Adams from the 1850’s to the early 1900’s and his involvement with the Underground Railroad, John Brown and others, the Civil War, Reconstruction, and Post-Reconstruction. It is a historically accurate examination of racial prejudice and the National shame that resulted from slavery, the frustration of Reconstruction, and the failure of the Supreme Court to protect basic civil rights with its interpretations of the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments, leading to Jim Crow and segregation.
