In the Name of Friendship

August 17 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am MDT

Golda Meir House Museum

Join us for a special event in memory of Hadar Kama and Ilay Zisser z”l. Hadar, the great-nephew of Golda Meir, and Ilay were soulmates and best friends who were killed together in the battle for Kibbutz Kfar Aza on October 7.

We will gather with Hadar and Ilay’s families, visiting from Israel, as they share stories and memories of their beloved sons.

Together, we will plant a memorial garden in their honor at the Golda Meir House Museum and take part in a symbolic walk with Run for Their Lives.

09:45 – Gathering
10:00 – Program begins
10:30 – Walk with Run for Their Lives
11:00 – Garden planting in honor of Hadar Kama and Ilay Zisser z”l

About Hadar Kama and Ilay Zisser:
Ilay Zisser and Hadar Kama shared the same birthday, July 11. Ilay was born in 1996 in Givat Ela in the Jezreel Valley, and Hadar in 1999 in Givat Shapira in the Hefer Valley. They also shared the same date of death: October 7, in Kfar Aza.

They first met in the army, serving in the same elite IDF unit, three years apart. Zisser was Hadar’s team commander. Those close to them knew about the rare mutual admiration that developed between them, which grew into a deep friendship. Whenever Zisser had to select soldiers for a mission he was leading, Hadar was always among the chosen few.

On the morning of October 7, Zisser called on Hadar to help defend the communities near the Gaza border. By around 8:00 a.m., the two were already on their way to their unit. A team of soldiers had been placed on alert for Simchat Torah and had already left for the south. Ilay and Hadar arrived in Kfar Aza, where they fought bravely under fire until they were ambushed and killed.

Hadar and Zisser were inseparable in life—and in death. Hadar is survived by his parents, Gila and Eyal, his two younger sisters, Shira and Alma, and his partner, Tamar. Ilay is survived by his parents, Vered and Daniel, his brothers, Ido, Lior, and Noam, and his wife, Tomer.

This event is organized in collaboration with Golda House – In memory of Hadar Kamah & Ilay Ziser, Celebrating values of Professionalism | Determination | Brotherhood
