*As of 2022, Colorado’s Jewish population stands at 98,400. Just under 2% of the Centennial State self-identifies as Jewish, coming in as the 13th largest population of Jews in the United States. What started as a small group of 12 Jewish migrants of German descent in 1859 has evolved into a vibrant community encompassing all corners of the state. The Jewish population plays a powerful role in the economic, social, and political development of Colorado.

About Mark Oppenheimer
From 2010 to 2016, Mark wrote the religion column for the NY Times, and recently published his fifth book titled, “Squirrel Hill: The Tree of Life Synagogue Shooting & the Soul of a Neighborhood”. His latest project is his podcast, “Unorthodox”, a Tablet Magazine production which covers “the news of the Jews”, or, in other words, Jewish life and culture. Oppenheimer holds a Ph.D. in religious studies from Yale University and has taught at Stanford, NYU, and his alma mater. Learn more about Mark here.
