How Drip Irrigation Changed Israel and The World

Drip irrigation was invented in Israel by a company called Netafim. Founded in 1965, Netafim produces the equipment and manufactures and distributes crop management technologies, including monitoring and control systems, dosing systems, and crop management software. As of 2012, Netafim was the global leader in the fast expanding market of drip and micro-irrigation. This technology made it possible for Israeli farmers to grow their food with an ever-shrinking freshwater supply. It was not only a huge advance in Israel but a transferable technology that could support agriculture around the world.



We will hear this amazing story and look to the future of farming with less and less water with Naty Barak. Naty is Chief Sustainability Officer Emeritus of Netafim, the pioneer and global leader in precision agriculture and drip irrigation solutions. He joined Netafim in 1975 and served in various roles including Director of Marketing and Treasurer of Netafim, Executive VP of Netafim USA, and President of Netafim South Africa. Barak was a member of the United Nations CEO Water Mandate and the United Nations Global Compact and served on the Core Advisory Group of the UN Global Compact’s Sustainable Agriculture Business Principles initiative.
