6:30 pm – The Colorado premiere of Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song (2021), with a talkback with festival founding director Kathryn Bernheimer following the screening.

In this stirring, soulful tribute to Cohen’s lifelong quest for truth and beauty, married directors Daniel Geller and Dayna Goldfine view the venerated singer-songwriter’s life and legacy through the prism of his internationally renowned hymn. Approved by Leonard Cohen before his 80th birthday in 2015, the film accesses a treasure trove of never-before-seen material from the Cohen Trust. By focusing on the remarkable trajectory of one iconic song – a prayer set to music that was initially rejected by Columbia records – the directors convey the intricacies of the artist, poet, sage, philosopher, spiritual seeker, storyteller, consummate performer, ladies’ man, practicing Buddhist, and deeply committed Jew. VIEW THE TRAILER.
