JFS Jewish Disabilities Advocates Simchat Torah Celebration for Disability Justice

FreeJFS Jewish Disabilities Advocates, in partnership with Temple Emanuel, Ohr HaOlam, Hebrew Educational Alliance, and Valley Beit Midrash, invites the entire community to a Simchat Torah celebration designed to be open, accessible, and welcoming to all.
This inclusive, community-wide celebration will feature an opportunity to celebrate the joy of Torah in ways that are meaningful for every participant. Whether dancing with the Torah, waving colorful scarves, holding soft stuffed Torahs, singing, or simply enjoying the community, everyone is invited to participate at their own comfort level. Together, we’ll honor the completion and beginning of the Torah cycle in a joyful, welcoming environment where every person belongs. Accessibility accommodations include wheelchair access, ASL interpretation, visual aids, quiet spaces, plush Torahs to hold, fidgets, masks, and a virtual attendance option that thoughtfully connects Zoom attendees with each other and the in-person experience.
A light nosh will be provided. Volunteers are needed as table leaders, to serve food, and/or to assist with setup or cleanup. Register by Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

This event is free, open to the public, and intended to bring together the whole community in support of disability awareness and inclusion. Donations to help cover the cost of food and accommodations are very much appreciated but not expected.
