Kohelet and the Rocky Mountain Jewish Historical Society at the University of Denver have partnered to sponsor an essay contest. Explore who you are and where you came from. Write a personal essay on your choice of the topics: (1) Whom Was I Named After? (2) My Roots, or (3) a Jewish historical or fictional subject of your choice. Research and learn, and give life to your vision of the past and the future.Â
The contest will have two divisions: high school and adult. There will be a winner in each category, but only the high school winner will receive the $250 prize. Essays should be between 500-1000 words. They will be judged on originality, ability to engage the reader, and style and word choice. The best entries will be published.Â
