Tikkun Olam: How do we put into practice the vision of a greater consciousness put forward by the Kabbalists? Tikkun Olam- the repair of the world- assumes that there is a need to address the imbalances created by the human narrative and actualize social change. We will look at those who are advocating and implementing change globally and locally which inspire us to commit to changes we can make in our lives- individually, with family, and in our communities.

The study of Kabbalah enables us to discover what is hidden from our perception in plain sight. In this introduction to the basic teachings of the Kabbalah you learn to see beyond habituated and constricted thinking and become open to experiencing the connectivity of all of created reality—what is known in physics as Quantum Entanglement, in Depth Psychology as Synchronicity and in Kabbalah as Soul Connections.

The early Kabbalah focused on the Hebrew letters and language and how this code underlies creation. The beauty of the letters is expressed through their meaning, shape, name and numerical value. The Hebrew letters are containers for the energies of time, including the months of the year and the 12 Spiritual Senses of Soul explained in Sefer Yetzirah (The book of Formation).

The story of Passover is one of transitioning through the narrow straits—from the confines of slavery in Egypt to the open expanse of freedom on the other side. In preparation for this holiday, reflect on the narrow places in our own lives and what it might mean for us to “cry out” from where we are as an act of moving towards where we want to be.

Join through guided text study, art-making, reflective writing, and sharing in this experiential workshop with Rabbi Eva Sax-Boulder. This workshop is open to all with an open and curious heart. No experience is need and most materials will be provided. Please bring the following:

Rabbi Eva Sax-Bolder served as the Rabbi of The Shul of New York until moving to Boulder in the summer of 2021. Who Are You?: In this first semester of Inner Transformation you are challenged to strip away your previous understandings of who you are and explore the relationship between your outer selves, inner selves and your essence. The Kabbalah teachings have a profound interest in revealing the masks (ie. selves, identifications, roles), you wear to ensure that you can answer the question: Are you wearing the mask or is the mask wearing you? What was oblivious now becomes obvious.

Violinist and author, Dr. Michael Brittan will be exploring the life and early Jewish influences of the renowned violinist, Jascha Heifetz. Through captivating video clips, we’ll delve into Heifetz’s extraordinary talent and the cultural backdrop of Vilna that shaped his musical brilliance.

“Sha-bbat, Sha-lom, Hay!” Join us on the First Friday, November through May, for a Farmside Shabbat Sing. We’ll sing Shabbat songs, read a story, explore the farm, and welcome Shabbat with the blessings of the candles, challah, and grape juice. Celebrate the songs and traditions in an open, inclusive, and accessible environment. Everyone is welcome but geared toward kids 0-5 and their caregivers.

We will plan to be outside just east of the barn or in the Greenhouse unless the weather makes those spaces inaccessible. In the event that we can’t be on the farm, we will email you Thursday evening and let you know to meet in the JCC library.

GRANDPARENTS & PARENTS : Bring your grandchildren and children! We’d love to see you!

We’ll start the morning with a short, active, and interactive Tot Shabbat service at 9:00 for younger children and their families, ending with snack and schmooze time.

At 10:00, we join together (b’yachad) for an all-ages, joyful, song-filled Shabbat service aimed to appeal to all attendees including families with children who are school-aged. During Shabbat B’Yachad, our “tots” can stay with parents or engage in fun activities in a nearby classroom.

We’ll conclude with a light kid friendly potluck lunch. We hope to see you!

Please register to let us know how many to expect, and if you can bring a vegetarian dish or help with set-up and clean-up.

Every first Saturday of the month gather at 9 for a child-centered joyful service designed for kids ages 0-7, followed at 10 by an all ages interactive and musical shabbat service for the whole family, with simultaneous childcare provided.  A light, kid friendly, vegetarian lunch to follow.

BMH-BJ invites the community to join us in the North Garden off Monaco for The Daffodil Project, a tribute to remembrance and hope. The event will feature a light breakfast, a colorful rock painting activity for kids to decorate the garden, and inspiring words and messages shared throughout the event, including a heartfelt rendition of the Kaddish.

Join us at Washington Park in Denver (we will be close to the east entrance, off of Mississippi and Franklin) as we march in solidarity with our friends in Israel, mark six months since the horrific events of October 7th, and demand the safe return of the hostages currently being held in Gaza by Hamas. We will be joined by Shye Klein, an Israeli-Canadian photographer and NOVA festival survivor, and Dekel Shalev, who survived the attack on Kibbutz Be’eri.

We’re delighted to share that our T4K (Tzedakah 4 Kids) fundraising event is changing this year. For those of you who are new, T4K is an annual event held in the spring to raise money for the Bob Loup Scholarship Fund. The Fund supports scholarships for kids going to Ranch Camp, Camp Shai, Early Learning School, and Wolf Theatre Academy.

Fund. Through his Legacy contribution, YTC continues to provide scholarships to students, and every year, the fruits of this special event allows Yeshiva students the opportunity to share the Mitzvah of Torah study through the Yissochor-Zevulun Partnership.

By 1860, there were thriving Jewish communities across the United States both in the North and South. With the outbreak of hostilities in 1861, Jewish women joined their respective sides and offered their services as nurses, spies, and smugglers, and formed soldiers’ aid societies. Professor Tish Richard returns to share the experiences of Jewish women during the war as they suffered privations and endured separation from their husbands, brothers, and fathers who enlisted. In their war work they provided for their men, their causes and fought anti-Semitic attitudes thereby proving in the North their Jewish Union loyalty and in the South their Jewish Confederate loyalty. $5

Join us for a night of joy, learning, and inspiration as we gather for our Second Annual Women’s Seder. Enjoy an interpretive exploration of the time-honored seder from a woman’s point of view. A buffet meal with vegan and gluten-free options will be offered, along with wine. 

This program is open to the community – teenagers to grandparents are welcome. The 2023 Women’s Seder sold out, we encourage you to register for this program early to secure your spot. For ages 13 (you must have a caregiver in attendance if 13 years of age).

Using the still life as a common departure point, you will observe and draw with scissors to build a personal language with shape, texture, and color. Starting with 4 quick studies of the still life, you will focus on composition, mark makings, shape, and value. Moving toward abstraction, you will expand our collage and painting skills while contemplating a still life from observation and layering it with personal imagery. Students are invited to bring 3-5 images that speak to them instinctually.

No prior painting experience is needed. All levels and beginners are welcome! 

Carol Ann Wachter is a fine artist and fashion designer based in Boulder, Colorado. With a background as an observational oil painter and fashion designer, Carol Ann is now exploring those nuances of depth, light, form, space, and color in a new way: Richly hued abstract collages. She studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has built a reputation as both an accomplished painter teacher and a designer of quality wearable yet elegant silhouettes.

Join in on a special tour of the Golda Meir House Museum, located on the Auraria Campus in Downtown Denver. The museum is the teenage home and the only known U.S. residence to the fourth Prime minister of the State of Israel. The house is a standing tribute to Golda’s commitment to freedom, peace, and human dignity.

• Learn about Golda’s unbelievable journey that started in Ukraine and how she eventually landed in Denver for high school.
• Hear stories about the special connection between Israel and Colorado and the inspiration that her time in Denver provided for her life’s work to become a Zionist and build the State of Israel.
• Explore how Golda broke down barriers to become the first woman in the Western world to be democratically elected to lead a country and how her influence continues to be felt today. 

Meet at the Golda Meir House for a tour led by Lena Fishman, the Executive Director of the Golda Meir House Museum. Participants are invited to bring a picnic and enjoy lunch together on the campus after the tour.

Professor Zach Levey will give a history of the peace process between Israel and Egypt. He will explain the principal elements of that process and the role of the United States four short years after the Yom Kippur War. On January 18, 1974, at Kilometer 101 in the Sinai Desert, Israel and Egypt signed the Disengagement-of-Forces Agreement, a historic peace treaty. Professor Levey will share the history of how this treaty came to be and impact of that treaty on the situation in Israel today.

Doors open at 5:30 pm with light dinner, Program will begin at 6:30 pm.

Professor Meg Frisbee returns to educate us on organized crime in the United States during the early and mid-twentieth century. She will bring to life through historic stories the underworld figures and gangsters from New York to Los Angeles and share how their businesses operated. Desserts will be served after the program.

Join us at the Mizel Arts and Culture Center for an evening of laughs with comedian, Ali Kolbert. To start the evening, students from the JCC’s “The Tight Five” comedy class will open for Ali. 

Proceeds from the evening go to the Wolf Theatre Academy’s scholarship fund! Tickets are $20 or $25. A $25 ticket includes an automatic $5 donation to the WTA scholarship fund. Tickets also include two drinks for the evening.
