How to Talk to Your Teens About Israel
March 8 | 7:00–8:30 pm | JCC Denver Social Hall

The situation in Israel is always complicated and always changing, and it can be hard to initiate, much less contextualize, conversations about the country—its politics, its polity, and its people.

If you’re wondering how to talk to your teen about Israel, join JEWISHcolorado’s Israeli emissary Itai Divinsky and Dr. Daniel Hettleman for a frank presentation on navigating this complex and challenging topic.

Daniel Hettleman, Ph.D., P.C., is a psychologist in a private practice in Denver, where he sees children, teens, adults and families in therapy. He has been teaching family therapy to graduate students at DU for the past 20 years, as well as consulting at local school and organizations. His work is informed by his Jewish practices and studies.

Know Before You Go – Israel on Campus
March 22 | 7:00–8:30 pm | JCC Denver Social Hall

Sending a child to college next year? Getting ready for life on campus takes a lot more than a trip to Bed, Bath & Beyond. The conversation about Israel and the Middle East can get pretty heated, and it can present a challenge to long-held ideas and ideologies.

Know Before You Go is a virtual workshop that will introduce parents to the challenges students face today and provide tips for students on how to create engaged and meaningful dialogue about Israel and being Jewish on campus, inside and outside classes.

Join Dr. Noam Weissman of OpenDor Media, as he unpacks the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Israel’s history in a nuanced, balanced way.

Dr. Weissman is senior vice-president of OpenDor Media, where he spearheads educational vision and leads content creation on his Unpacked YouTube channel, which has more than 85,000 subscribers and millions of views. He is also the host of the podcast Unpacking Israeli History.

Presented in partnership with OpenDor Media.
