JOEY AND AVERY FRIEDMANN

We are Joey Friedmann and Avery Harris. We are recently married and excited to be making Denver our home!
Joey:
I moved to Denver in late 2014, am a natural resources attorney with a few side projects, and enjoy traveling and being outside with my wife, Avery. I am an avid rock climber and on the rare free weekend, if not on the rock, we are probably trying to tick another 14er off our list. I am a recovering nomad originally from Washington, DC, having lived/studied in Atlanta, Israel, England, Michigan, Indiana, and Leadville, CO.

Avery:
I moved to Denver in August of 2014, am a speech-language pathologist and like to spend my weekends skiing or rock climbing with Joey! I am originally from Swarthmore, PA and have also lived in Ohio and West Virginia for school. Though recent transplants we are aspiring locals and enthusiastic about joining/making a community here!

JULIA & ILAN REISSNER

Julia:
My name is Julia and I am 30 years old. I grew up in Connecticut and I moved to Denver in 2008 to go to Graduate School at the University of Denver. I work at Florence Crittenton Services as a Social worker with teen Mom’s and their babies and I enjoy my job and embrace the challenges every day. I have been married since June 2016. I love hanging out with my husband and family and having new adventures every day. I enjoy being outside as much as possible. I enjoy hiking, snow shoeing, camping and traveling to new places. I absolutely love my life in Colorado.

Ilan:
My name is Ilan and I’m 34 years old. I am a Denver native who left for 4 years to go to Brandies University and I am glad I came back to Colorado. I’m in the Real estate business and recently starting a company doing mostly affordable housing deals. I have been married since June 2016 and love spending time with my wife and family. I enjoy hiking, fishing, biking camping and traveling.

JESSICA FERN

Jessica is a Chicago native who moved to Denver three years ago by way of Washington D.C.. She works in school health policy and is passionate about community building and social issues. In her free time, you can find Jessica at the dog park with her puppy, trying a new workout class, at happy hour, or for the moment, wedding planning.


AMANDA GLUCKLICH

Amanda Glucklich served the Denver Jewish community for the last two years as a Moishe House resident. She is currently the Farm Educator at the Boulder JCC where she teaches preschoolers and kindergarteners about agriculture and animals through a Jewish lens. She loves teaching other to cook, working in her garden, spending time with her friends and eating pizza. She also loves food preservation and practicing her homesteading skills in her free time.


MALLORY GROSSMAN

Mallory Grossman is originally from Los Angeles, California, grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona, and made her way to Denver in December of 2014. Her family is very important to her, she’s only one year younger than her brother and sister, who are twins, and all three of them have the same birthday. As a professional nanny and massage therapist, Mallory has a passion for nurturing others and volunteers in her community regularly. She enjoys traveling, cooking, crafting, trying new restaurants, dancing, game nights, live music, and all outdoor activities.

 


KEVIN AND PAM JINKERSON

Pam and Kevin have been married 8 years and have a six year old son and a four and a half year old daughter. Kevin is originally from San Francisco. He moved out to Denver for college and never left. He is a financial advisor and his hobbies include watching most sports, skiing, golfing and scuba diving. Pam, a Denver native, is a former public school teacher and currently a stay at home mom. Her hobbies include traveling, volunteering at her children’s schools and at various Jewish organizations in the city.


MELANIE KNASTER

I’m Melanie Knaster, an Arizona native who attended Northern Arizona University! While living in Austin, TX I went on Birthright and met my husband Brandon and moved to Denver in January 2015. I love the great outdoors, snowboarding, hiking, and traveling abroad. I also enjoy music, photography and loving up on my dog, Delilah.


YARON MARCUS

Yaron was born in Canada, and lived in Israel as a child but spent most of his childhood growing up in the NYC area. He moved to Denver in 2006 and fell in love with this beautiful city. As a Realtor, he had to learn a lot about Denver’s nooks and crannies in a hurry and has really enjoyed doing so. He now runs a successful real estate practice and has received numerous accolades professionally. A strong Zionist and passionate about many things, Yaron is seldom short on words, and enjoys meaningful conversation and thoughtful debate. In his spare time you might find Yaron cooking up a storm in the kitchen, dining out in one of Denver’s best restaurants, taking his dog to the park, seeing live music of all kinds and on stage with his band The Inablers as the drummer.


JESSICA PIVAR

Jessica is a business consultant who lives in Denver and works for Deloitte Consulting. Her parents live in New Mexico and her sister, niece, and nephew live in Israel. She received her BS from University of Wisconsin and MBA from University of Denver. She has been an active volunteer in the Denver Jewish community for many years and is currently a member of Temple Emanuel, Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) National Young Leadership Cabinet (NYLC), and the Colorado Hillel Board. As part of NYLC, in 2014 she co-chaired a mission to Israel with 163 young adults from across North America, in 2015 she was the NYLC recruitment co-chair for JFNA General Assembly in Washington, DC, in 2016 she was part of the NYLC Regional Action Team, and she currently serves as the NYLC Best Practices portfolio co-chair.

Jessica strongly believes in the mission of JFNA “To protect and enhance the well-being of Jews worldwide through the values of tikkun olam, tzedakah, and Torah. To lead a continental movement to mobilize financial and social resources through philanthropic endeavors, strategic initiatives, and international agencies that strengthen the Jewish people.” She has visited many Jewish communities in the US and around the world and has seen that a strong Jewish foundation can inspire commitment to leading a Jewish life and creating a vibrant Jewish community.


TARA SCHOENWALD

My name is Tara Schoenwald and I am a native of Denver. I am a HR Manager and really enjoy what I do. Traveling is my number one passion, although I have a problem with overpacking. I especially like visiting Jewish communities around the world and my favorite city on earth is Tel Aviv. I love all things design, especially interior decorating and fashion. I am a total foodie and love to try new restaurants with my friends and family.


KAILA SCHWARTZ

I was born in Colorado Springs and moved to Denver when I was 3, making me one of the few Colorado natives left. My family on my mother’s side has been here for over 150 years and has always been a part of creating and building the Jewish community. They have done everything from helping to fund new Mikvahs to cooking school lunches at the Jewish Day School. It is my family that instilled in me the deep desire to be a strong part of the Jewish community! A little more about myself, I have my BSBA in Statistics and my MBA, emphasis in Analytics, from DU. I currently work as a Junior Regional Manager for a company called Solidifi, but I hope to become an Actuary in the future. I love to travel and read, and I’m obsessed with Harry Potter!


YURI TAVBIN

I enjoy playing sports I currently have a one-year-old daughter and I used to work at the JCC for a very long time. I’m glad to be involved in the Jewish community again.


JARRETT WADLER

I’m a 26 year old who after being in Colorado for two years, is still feeling the eternal flame to find new concert venues, new road trips, and new hikes to go on. I like to keep myself pretty busy from playing multiple roles at my company, volunteering for organizations around town, and maintaining close relationships with friends and family. My primary hobbies, other than what’s been mentioned, are: playing the drums, working out, attending sporting events, the outdoors, traveling, and checking out new restaurants/breweries.
