Dear Community Members,
As I write to you, Colorado and other communities across the country are reeling from the sixth wave of anti-Semitic acts targeting Jewish Community Centers and other Jewish communal institutions. At last count, since January, 152 incidents at 110 locations in 37 states and 2 Canadian provinces have occurred. Here in Colorado, our Boulder Jewish Community Center just received a second bomb threat and in January, a Denver elementary school was spray painted with Nazi swastikas. Each one of these 152 threats sends a message of hate to innocent children and adults and aims to build a sense of fear and anxiety in our communities.
As Ben Lusher, chair of our JCRC program, recently stated, “We will not be intimidated, and we will not allow our community to be disrupted.” JEWISHcolorado stands united with our local Jewish institutions and Jewish communities across the country in urging federal support to put an end to these repeated hostile actions. Our Colorado Senators, Michael Bennett and Cory Gardner, joined all 100 U.S. Senators in signing onto a letter to the nation’s security and law enforcement agencies urging increased federal funding and security assistance to keep our Jewish institutions safe. There are several more letters circulating Congress, and JEWISHcolorado and our JCRC have called on our congressional delegation’s continued support on this critical issue. We urge all members of our community to do the same. CLICK HERE to contact your Congressional representatives and senators and let them know we appreciate their support for our Jewish community.
JEWISHcolorado also applauds the work done in our local community by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), local law enforcement, and the Jewish Federation of North America’s Secure Communities Network (SCN) to ensure that our children are safe and our community is taking all necessary precautions. May you, your family and your community feel a sense of peace and security at this unprecedented time. JEWISHcolorado stands with you and with communities across Colorado and urges us all to come together in a show of support and solidarity.

Leadership Update in Ramat HaNegev
Following the untimely passing of Ramat HaNegev Mayor, Shmulik Rifman z”l, we are pleased to let you know that Eran Doron will be the next Mayor of Ramat HaNegev Regional Council. He will be entrusted as Mayor on April 4, 2017. Per an update from Jared White, partnership coordinator, Ramat HaNegev Regional Council, “Eran Doron has been a key figure in Ramat HaNegev for many years. His last position at the Regional Council was CEO and Partnership Director. He is a long time resident of Midreshet Ben Gurion with his wife Einat and their four children.”
JEWISHcolorado looks forward to many more years of partnering with Eran to build a bright future for Ramat Hanegev and the Jewish people.
“All of us here at JEWISHcolorado look forward to continuing our partnership with Ramat Negev as Eran steps into his new leadership role of this beautiful region,” said Diana Zeff Anderson, Board Chair of JEWISHcolorado.
