Spend an evening with JEWISHcolorado, its Women’s Philanthropy program, and special guest Ari Shapiro, a host of NPR’s All Things Considered. Shapiro, an award-winning journalist, will talk about his debut memoir, “The Best Strangers in the World: Stories from a Life Spent Listening,” which was an instant New York Times bestseller.  Also, a frequent guest singer with the “little orchestra” Pink Martini, Shapiro will serenade the audience with songs from his repertoire. Enjoy a delicious plated dinner (kosher dietary laws observed), delightful drinks, and listen as Shapiro weaves together an extraordinary story of personal life experiences and a unique tale that can help us all “repair the world.”

JEWISHcolorado Women’s Philanthropy is proud to honor Diana Zeff Anderson with the Golda Award. This prestigious award, named after Golda Meir, is presented to a local Jewish woman who exemplifies extraordinary leadership, community involvement, support of JEWISHcolorado, and has an outstanding ability to inspire others.

CHOICES event guest speaker Ari Shapiro

About Ari Shapiro

Ari Shapiro, the beloved host of NPR’s All Things Considered, takes his audience on a journey around the globe to reveal the stories behind his most heartwarming and heartbreaking narratives. He has reported from above the Arctic Circle and aboard Air Force One. He has covered wars in Iraq, Ukraine, and Israel, and he has filed stories from dozens of countries and most of the 50 states. His debut memoir, The Best Strangers In the World, was an instant New York Times bestseller.

As the self-reinforcing bubbles we live in become more impenetrable, Ari Shapiro keeps seeking ways to help people listen to one another; to find connection and commonality with those who may seem different; to remind us that, before religion, nationality, or politics, we are all human. This talk is a testament to one journalist’s passion for Considering All Things—and sharing what he finds with the rest of us.
